Mexico, Uruguay battle for Group A supremacy
Soccer Betting Lines
06/21/2010 -
Rustenburg, South Africa (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Both Mexico and Uruguay are in a
great position to advance from Group A, and their meeting at Royal Bafokeng
Stadium on Tuesday could determine who tops the group and who finishes second.
Both teams enter their final group-stage match on four points, with France and
South Africa meeting up with one point apiece at the same time on Tuesday.
Uruguay leads the group based on goal difference, but both sides have their
fate firmly in their own control.
"Everything is in our own hands and either a win or a draw will take us
through the doors to the next round," said Mexico midfielder Cuauhtemoc
Blanco, who converted a penalty kick in his team's 2-0 win over France last
time out.
Mexico has reached the second round of the past four World Cups, and manager
Javier Aguirre is feeling confident about his team's chances of reaching the
knockout round again.
"We've been together for three months now, this team is well-oiled, and with
our potential going forward we always try to trouble our opponents," the
manager said. "We now have 90 minutes against Uruguay to reach our first goal,
which is to qualify for the round of 16."
El Tri must do so without the services of defender Efrain Juarez, who is out
through suspension after an accumulation of yellow cards, but Mexico's second
goal, should they achieve their first, will be to advance beyond the second
round for the first time since 1986.
Uruguay will be trying to reach the knockout round for the first time in 20
years after they dispatched South Africa, 3-0, in their last match.
Diego Forlan scored twice and he believes that the game was a total team
effort, leaving Uruguay full of confidence.
The South American side has been very good in defense with clean sheets
against France and South Africa in its opening two games, but Mexico's potent
attack will prove to be a tougher test.

MySportsbook.com refunds all bets on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay from NFL week one.
(September 14) – Week one of NFL action saw three teams go scoreless for the first time since 1977. Another four were unable to get a touchdown and almost half of the underdogs covered the spread. Those three teams saved bettors at MySportsbook.com from losing out completely, thanks to the company’s unique NFL Shutout Rule -- which ensures that if the team you backed goes scoreless, your wager is refunded.
Sportsbook refunded tens of thousands of dollars to customers who bet on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay, the three teams that stunk up the field so badly that their fans and backers never had a chance to get up from their couches and cheer. In the spirit of the low scoring start to the season, odds makers at the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino have set odds on how many total shutouts there will be this season.
MySportsbook.com has posted updated sports betting lines for week two of the season. Ben Roethlisberger’s health status is still questionable, so Willie Parker will try to lead Pittsburgh again as they travel to Jacksonville as a one point favorite. After beating up on his little brother last week, Peyton Manning will look to lead the Colts to victory against Houston. Indianapolis is a whopping 13.5 favorite in the match-up.
Seattle, last year’s highest scoring team, showed the power of their defense with their gritty 9-6 win in Motown over the ravenous Lions. They take their act back home to the comforts of Qwest Field where they will face the resurgent Arizona Cardinals. The Seahawks are favored by a touchdown.
