Bobcats sign F Martin for rest of seasonBasketball Betting Lines02/18/2009 - Charlotte, NC (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Charlotte Bobcats signed former Kansas State standout forward Cartier Martin for the remainder of the season on Wednesday. Martin, who played in 21 games this season for the NBADL's Iowa Energy, originally signed a 10-day contract on January 29 and agreed to a second on February 8. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The 6-foot-7 Martin has shown promise since joining the Bobcats, averaging 5.4 points, 1.7 rebounds and connecting on 6-of-15 three-point attempts in seven contests this season. He posted averages of 20.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists in 37.6 minutes per contest with Iowa prior to his callup. A four-year standout at Kansas State, Martin became only the third player in school history to amass 1,500 points and 500 rebounds. He was named the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year as a senior in 2006-07 and received second team All-Big 12 honors as both a junior and senior.
