The New York skipper made the announcement at a press conference Monday after revealing the starting lineup and pitcher for the Mid-Summer Classic. According to the Boston Globe, Beltre was shocked to learn of Girardi's pronouncement because he had not ruled himself out. He planned on testing his hamstring later Monday. If he determines he can't play, Young would then be his replacement.
